Mine was also repaired and I don't have this firmware Keep OTN & OTA Off I suspect that one day there will be root for your TV Maybe when "K series" comes out

SO the main question i have is what should the zip file size be for the skype app that im suppossed to install??

Ehh I thought that Skype was finally working on your device? If Skype is NOT working and AUTOSTARTING there is absolutely NO POINT in trying this root technique Also you didn't post the screenshot after modyfing main.js... Did the installation continue etc. Without it no help

there was no difference in the install process after modifying main.js. i understand what you are saying, however the issue is with skype itself. when i first got skype installed, the icon for skype inside smarthub was different than the skype icon that is presently inside smarthub. which leads me to believe that it was a differnt version of skype. unfortunatly i dont remember which skype version it was. ill send a screenshot of the icon that is presently in smarthub if you woukd like? thats why i was asking earlier about which version should b installed? im using my own local web server/develop acct. method for getting skype onto the tv. but im not sure which skype zip file is the correct one to download and install.

There should BE difference. Unless you modified it incorrectly It should NOT say that "some activation files were missing"

yes i understand. so as far as obtaining the correct skype zip file to be installd, where do i download it from? and what size should the zip file be? that way i can modify the widgetlist.xml file

i get that root wont work without skype, i get it. and i am able to get skype onto the tv, but the reason thar skype isnt working MIGHT be becuz im installing the wrong version or wrong widget file. i cant say for certain yet if thats the problem. thts why im trying to verify which file IS the correct one to install

FYI, size in widgetlist.xml doesn't matter, it's only there to show some accurate progress bar during installation

ok well if thats the case then what size is the zip file for skype suppossed to be? the one that WILL install on my tv is somewhere around 30kb, the one that WONT install is around 11.1mb... thats quite a size difference between the 2, so theres gotta be a difference in the app itself.
