The problem with putty I met was missing rolls in the screen when I got the connection with the TV. That's why I prefer using hypperterminal. The PL2303 adapter that did not work for me was one these ebay cheap china cr*p (it only works for me to unbrick routers). So I bought this DKU-5 china cheap clone and made it happened.

Great news, Lacibogi! Maybe it's worth another try after all.
What particular model of PL2303 adapter you own? Mine is this:

Yes, format process went ok. Have you reboot tv before to start hacking?

@kaiser
I have the same PL2303 module..
Maybe it was because of another, newer, VGA cable.
@juuso
Yes I did..so Ithink mtd_rwarea was restored while booting.

Rwarea always is restored while booting if failed to mount.

i have a problem when installing driver for DKU-5 cable (buyed from China on Ebay). My cable has 4 wires (pin 5, 6, 7 and 8) not 5 (as in the picture in the wiki by greenhorn), (soldering is ok, I have followed the instruction in the wiki). When I turn on the TV with cable and then I'll try to install the driver I have the message "unknown device". The cable mount a TI 3410 chip. any suggestions? I have to invert Rx with Tx, could it be a solution? Unfortunately I have not a Nokia phone to try the cable (I have already cut it)
