[ROOT] H "Network" root (FW<=Oct.2015, no T-GFS)
Re: [!!!] Rooting H on latest firmwares
I rooted my TV simply because I am the type of person who like to do things because I can lol.
I know for a fact I can do at LEAST 2 things: speed up my Interface Navigation/make the input less laggy & uninstall Plex because there is another Video player that can play ALL encodes/decodes of audio and video streams.
If I can do those 2 things: I'll be a happy camper.
I actually made a post in H-->Support on what I wanted to in case you are still like "wtf? y this guy root?"
viewtopic.php?f=78&t=9821&p=81117#p81117
I just would like to know everything possible able my TV's filesystem and all the crap Samsung did to make it a Smart TV. I want to understand this new device, new system, new OS.
I'm a nerd like that. I may not know what to do, but I can sure find out lol

Re: [!!!] Rooting H on latest firmwares
Just in case anyone missed it:
Tested and Working on a UN55HU6830 TN-14UAKUC-1130.8.
There is no password to SSH/FTP/SFTP/etc. over to the TV. Both Passive and Active modes are working for me. However! Sending commands doesn't work. I get an error that I posted on topics and will link shortly. You just plug in your TV's IP address, EITHER port 3123 or 3023 (BOTH work for ANY type of connection) and select Anonymous login.
I keep my SamyGo Rooted USB plugged in all the time in the very top/1st USB port because Samsung is stupid and doesn't think the USB 3.0 controller ports should be the main ports. On my TV I have 3 ports, 2 USB 2.0 starting from the top and going down, the last port is my USB 3.0 port.
I am able to access ALL folders on my TV's storage, the root directory, and I can add or modify or remove files and folders.
Since I can't send commands, even programs with a GUI for permissions can't apply them because essentially in the background they are sending commands.
I think that's it. If anyone needs more assistance or has any questions, feel free to email me or PM me!
ONLY IF YOUR TV MODEL IS AN H SERIES BECAUSE THATS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE AND ONLY ONE METHOD WORKS FOR THE H SERIES. Thank you for your respect by NOT emailing me if you do NOT have an H Series TV.

telnet port -> 23

ftp -> 21
3123/3023 -> "recovery" console. NOT supposed to be used for "normal" usage

I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)

Sweet. Didn't even try those ports because your root instructions in the SamyGO widget only give us the 2 ports I mentioned.
Can you update your root app with all the available ports and inform users there is no password?
Also, what is the root name, just root?

FTP on 21 and Telnet on 23 are universal standards (not only SamyGO ones), and if both don't ask for password, it means there is none. Simple as that, nothing changed from A series...
Btw, you didn't see Telnet/23 on your *deep* port scan?

Re: [!!!] Rooting H on latest firmwares
I didn't scan lol I was exaggerating. The root didn't work and I was complaining.
Also, I know which services are using what STANDARD ports, but that's nit why I was asking for him to update the rooting widget output.
You can run ANY service on ANY port. All the acronyms mean are just words but they were NOT developed to ONLY work on the "standard" ports.
That's why users like my self were confused and frustrated when the only ports we were given were 3123 and 3023. They were defined ports for netcat and telnet. That mean they are NOT running on standard ports for whatever reason.
But because we were only told those 2 ports, it's not clear that the standard ports for those 2 services were also open in addition to 3123 and 3023.
Also, never assume someone has been rooting since A series. This is the 1st Smart TV I've EVER owned. I have 0 idea how any of this works and what we can do with it.
But that's why I'm learning and keep asking for clarification. These guides are not fully updated with all steps and not all provided steps are detailed and explained.
How about the developers just stop worrying about weather or not us users are capable of knowing what they are talking about and focus more on a complete and detailed process of rooting our TV's.
YouTube and Google exsist. I can quickly and easily learn about any work or process or method or tool the developers have us use. It's not hard to give all details, it's actually harder to omit them lol.

Re: [!!!] Rooting H on latest firmwares
The point is precisely not to let users feel totally assisted and consequently stop being capable of thinking by themselves while blindly applying procedures without any understanding
I can't blame you not to have rooted any TV until then, I just say that all answers are already on forum multiple times

Re: [!!!] Rooting H on latest firmwares
Soo you don't care about proving great service all the time? Only when it suits you? That's not very kind to people who donated money.
I encountered a similar situation on OverClock.net where no one wanted to tell users how to overclock a system because they didn't want to be held responsible or deal with issues users encountered.
So I spent about 2 or 3 years learning how to do it my self the made a complete and precise and detailed topic on exactly how to overclock and what exactly they were doing the whole time.
I haven't had one user complain about any thing and I've helped everyone as much as I can as often as I can.
Again; stop worrying about us. You already put a warning. I read it. I'm good to go. Lay down EVERYthing for me and I'll follow all steps to the T.
Ima have to force PayPal to refund my donation if seriously more information doesn't come to light about this.
Again: you already have like 50 warnings to follow all the steps and to only proceed if our TV's and firmwares meet specifications. That's all you need. You don't need to withhold information and make us ask 1000 times.
Also, if the information is already available on the forum somewhere: please post links to the specific post with the information I'm asking about. It's not that hard. I'm new here. You know which topics hold what info better than I do or any other member.
I've been apart of forums all my life and I always provided links like that. It's not hard for a veteran member to help new users and you shouldn't make me feel like I'm being a burden either.
Lastly, regardless of methods or informations are exactly the same across all series or firmwares or methods, again: we don't all own multiple TV's and it's actually smarter to NOT enter A, B, C etc. series forms and start trying things on my H series TV.
Not one person said anywhere "this info apples to all series/firmwares". It only happens when users ask if it's compatible. I don't wanna waste my time looking through 1000's of posts when only 10 of them apply to my TV.
If there is information that is the same across all series and firmwares and methods, then please make a Frequently Asked Questions thread that's Stickied on top of all forums and outlines common termonologies, common methods, common procedures and common informations.
YOU guys made these roots for us and YOU'RE asking for my money in order to access the root.
All WE'RE asking for is respect that we listened to your warnings and don't sugar coat any info or leave any of it out because you are afraid of the FEW peope won't listen and brick their TV's.
If you DO have a user who bricked a TV, try to help as much as you can, but you ABSOLUTELY have the right to say: "look dude, we warned you a bunch of times to follow our steps and you specifically said you overlooked something. That's not our fault man, you should have taken our warning seriously."
That's actually happened a few times in my forum and we I said that, other users agreed and there wasn't any sort of negative image for the site, for me providing info or any other users.
Just be compassionate and let's all assume all users have just as much knowledge and skill as the developers.
Let's try that methodology and see what happens.
