Re: [!!!] Rooting H series (updated 27/01/2015)

Post by JirVa »

Hi all,

first of all - I am returning user of SamyGo - in past, I successfully used SamyGo on 650 series. Now, I buy UE48h6270 with preinstalled SW 2113.4 (1008). As checked on Samsung's web pages, latest SW is 2604.1.

My question is, if I should update to this version and then perform root?
Or, is there SW version, which is latest known as root capable?
Or should I try to root only on 2113.4?

I also disabled OTN update, but this can be found in another place, than your guide shows (if you want, I can check exact path again ans post here). Also, Automatic Updates from Settings has been disabled.

Thank you and keep goin'! :)

YES!!!

Yeah you can post. All info that can help other users is useful. H rooting is much more complicated (in comparison to other series). If you do something wrong (like updating to newer firmware) you are gone (at least) for months. Also be VERY CAREFUL with service menu. It was reported that OTN can enable ITSELF when you visit service menu and/or perform factory reset. Always check if it's OFF before you leave service menu. To be even more "on the safe side" you can also disable OTA Support :) Good luck! :)
I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!
If you want root DISABLE internet access to your device!!!!
DO NOT EVER INSTALL FIRMWARE UPGRADE !!!!

Dear Sectroyer,

thank you for your info. Let's make it clear - on start of this post, as 1st article, I read that my TV was successfully rooted with (UE48H6270, T-MST14DEUC-2130.0) - from your point of view, should I search for this version, install it first, then root or not? You know, just asking, because, I don't think, that all upgrades have target to disable SamyGo functionality. But maybe I am wrong. So, what you think it will be better?

Regarding Service menu - I also found, that each time you ONLY VISIT the menu without any action, leads to restore all settings in TV to defaults. So, it is simple, how to check, if OTN maybe is enabled again - if you turn on the TV and there are defaults loaded in Settings, it means, something chaged in Service Menu. So, fo sure, I will check service menu OTN value again, while doing photos with correct steps. Where should I post pictures then?

95% "functionality" that is "added" trough firmware upgrades either blocks SamyGO or at least causes SamyGO instability. Rule is simple. The lower the firmware the better. I personally (almost same model as you) use something like 1108 :)

Put them here. Mods will move it to the right place :)

As promised, here are screenshots of OTN Support.

TV: UE48H6270
FW: T-MST14DEUC-2113.4

Path:
SpoilerShow
Option -> MRT Option -> OTN Support
And somewhere in forums, I noticed, that somebody asks, where to disable Bluetooth, so, as seen on screenshot, it is in same submenu (BT Support). But, I not tested it.

And thanks for Samba info, can you let me know, which file I should fill by data (IP, name, pass)?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

If you're talking about samba shares, and if your server(s) have no password they'll be mounted automatically to virtual USB. Else you have to edit /mnt/etc/init.d/04_04_samba.init script and set user/pass/(server)/(shares).
But first root :)
I do NOT receive any PM. Please use forum.
