My personal opinion is, that TV will report, that newer FW is already installed... But I don't see any risk in that..

Maybe you should try again though, it really looks like watchdog behavior :)
I disabled the watchdog again, and to my surprise, it actually worked. I can switch to the EXT source input without problems and reboots. However, I have been experimenting with SamyGO PVRDecoder, which frequently used to cause crashes and reboots of my TV before. Now it hangs my TV instead. The TV totally stops responding to the remote control and telnet and ssh stop working. The only way I know to get out of this state, is to pull the power plug. I would have preferred the TV to reboot instead. The watchdog probably has a good purpose, and it should not have to be disabled.

The only purpose of watchdog is for TV to survey real-time its system integrity, and reboot itself if something goes wrong. So, as soon as you "cheat" your TV, it SHOULD be disabled (that from very earlier series), even if it's most of the time unnecessary in practice. Then, I think issues you're having with PVRdecoder are more likely due to UnDRM not being fully suitable to your non-MST model (or other youth problems on H compliance :) )

Hi all,

I bought a brand new UE40H6270 with the intention to be able to root and play round with cool stuff on such a SmartTV. Unfortunately my TV already has firmware version T-MST14DEUC-2135.4 from stock. I immediately disabled automatic firmware upgrade in the service menu not to catch any more recent firmware version. As far as I can read in this forum, there currently is no way to root my device.

So what else can I do with my TV? Can I login without root access? Is there any other user level which I can use? What is the root access good for? Just for mounting read/write instead of just read-only partitions? Or isn't it possible at all to access the linux on the ARM of the TV?

Thanks
Chelaz

Can I ask you - on your 2135 if you run root script, will it ends by error? Or everything looks good, but it still not work?

Still crossing fingers that it will work some day ;)

what needs to be done to make it working on T-NT14 models? What's the difference with other firmwares? It seems it has the same exploitable skype version? Or are the other files in other directory's / file structure?

GHero wrote:Recording device is needed for root, but you do not want to waste two USB sticks? There is a solution. Make two partitions on the stick, format both with fat32. Insert stick into TV, it will be recognized as two USB devices. Format one of them for recording and use the second one for the SamyGo files.
Successfully tested on my TV.
HI
how were you able to partition your usb drive to two? I have tried using easeus partition but my system and the tv only see it as one drive
