SamyGO features needs SmartHUB?

I disabled SmartHUB because I had a stub entry (preinstalled) on the top of the "source" shelf that sincerely annoyed me to death, so I disabled smartHUB as I never used it. I wonder if SamyGO requires the SmartHUB to work.

I'm also interested in knowing if the root disables some features or has downsides attached to it. I'm on H firmware 2606.

For rooting procedure itself, Smarthub is required since a widget is used. Then I think it shouldn't be needed, actually it may depend on used rooting method and on how Smarthub is *really* disabled. Btw, how did you disable it??
If it's only a matter of "bothering unwanted source", a patch (libHideSource) exists to hide user-defined ones, but it first needs root of course :)

I disabled by resetting it. By doing so the stub "source" entry disappeared just as before I setup the smartHUB. I hate when things are being done behind the scenes.
I checked "libHideSource", looks like I can keep it enabled while hiding annoying stuff, great.

Does root access need a rom or something? I came from the Wii scene but I sincerely wouldn't like if the menus or features changed much as I record TV and push buttons basically on muscle memory by now. Not sure what to expect.

Thanks for the help!

Ah ok, so it's not really "disabled" (I don't think it's possible), shouldn't matter then :)
TV is rooted only in "software" way, no flashing needed, absolutely no change to original looking/features and 100% reversible anyway. Only difference is... root access! (along with all possibilities it offers...)
