While you watching media thru Media Player of TV, you have the option to adjust backlight also. Please look at Tools->Picture settings menu.

Yes you are right... I checked today and see that.
Unfortunately, I believe it's not easy to do that...

I think you could try to change backlight level from "profiles" at menu. For example dynamic, std, movie...
Since we could change those at menu (do we?) it will follow the same backlight setting... Don't tried but it might work.
For alternative way, you can change your backlight level from TOP Debug Menu. But those setting deleted after switching TV ot if your "dynamic" contrast or power setting feature enabled...
Best solution is installing a Eco Sensor. It's really easy to build device that change TV backlight by detecting environmental light. (SamyGO Brightness Sensor). I build one but can't release it yet.
