SamyGO

Hello, first time poster, but I've been lurking for a little while, consulting the wiki and forums to determine what kind of LED TV I should buy. I bought a UN46D6420U on-sale from Best Buy last night (despite the defective 3D.. 7000's are still too expensive for me!), and its all set up now, and I thought I would share a few details about it.

1. Unlike other Samsung LED TV's I've read about that give access to the service menu via INFO-MENU-MUTE-POWER when the TV is off, to access the service menu on mine I had to do MUTE-1-8-2-POWER. Drove me crazy thinking I'd never be able to access the service menu on my shiny new TV.
2. Firmware version is T-GASAKUC-1022.4 according to the service menu.
3. I had to create a new account with the red button (as opposed to the blue button, D, according to the wiki), and I set the name as develop, etc, and once I set the IP of the server to the one listed on the SamyGo wiki page, a bunch of Russian widgets were installed that I don't really care about, and I don't see any SamyGo widget.

What do?

Are all the (mostly worthless) Russian widgets normal? I really don't need to see the weather in Moscow in Russian but if thats just a part of it then I suppose I can just remove the odd widgets myself. Will retry in a bit.

Mystery solved. Here's what I did:

I re-sync'd User Application Synchronization under the Develop menu, and the TV reinstalled the various widgets after 5 or so minutes. Afterwards, I checked through the list of installed widgets -- no SamyGo to be found. I exited and re-entered the Smart Hub, and again, no SamyGo. I rebooted the TV, checked Smart Hub, and again, no SamyGo. Then I thought, well maybe SamyGo will show up if I press the green B (Sort By..) button and sort by name? Sure enough, after all the widgets were sorted, there was SamyGo, and I ran it and the process seemed to work just fine.

Now I have one other question not covered in the wiki as far as I can tell: do I need to run SamyGo every time I reboot the TV, or is the TV good to go after running it once?

I think you were to lazy to check all widgets in the list (had to go up to widgetlists end to right...)

Anyway, glad to hear problem solved. And yes, you have to start SamyGO every time you restart TV. Or add this to autostart (Ticker).

I think you're wrong. I went all the way to the right, and it wasn't there when I first installed the user widgets from the IP address, or the subsequent time. Really, it's not there until the list is re-arranged for me, on this TV.

Nice tip with the auto-start though, I'll set that up!
