Is The Samsung UE46D7000 Full 1080 HD

The reason I ask this is because, I have just returned a UE46D6530 for the 3D fault not dispalying Full 3D in HD

I now have a UE46D7000 led 3D tv.

When I tested it with the images on this web site the 1920x1080 jpeg image and the 1920x1080 3d image, I have notice that this D7xxx Series TV cannot display normal Full HD.......The normal Full HD on the d7xxxSeries is no way as good as on the D6xxx series?

The letters a,c,b.......etc in the jepegs are fuzzy, and on the D6xxx series they are crystal clear as you would expect? Like viewing on a PC screen

Have Samsung lowered the Normal FULL HD to make it look like the 3D is in FULL HD, Or has the D7xxx series got a totally crap panel unable to display Full HD.??? :(

I'm not sure where you're getting these jpegs from but you seem to be confused. There's no doubt that the D7000 is "full" HD but how you test that with a couple of crappy compressed jpegs, I have no idea. Stop looking at jpegs and watch some Blu-rays, then you'll know the display if "full" HD.

I've never thought of testing 3D using a static image (mainly because that would be pointless) but to go along with it, if you did, at best you would be invoking Side-By-Side (Half-SBS) 3D which is not the same at all as proper frame packed 3D on a Blu-ray such as Avatar. Half-SBS is half the horizontal resolution of proper 3D in order to fit the left and right eye images in a single 1920*1080 frame. Have you just been looking at jpegs, analogue TV and Nintendo Wii since you turned it on!?

Sorry if I seem incredulous, I've just never heard anyone question the resolution of a D7 or 8 series Samsung because the panels are so stunning and blatantly as 1080p as you can get.

These are the Jpegs Im talking about, on my UE46D6530 the smallest of the a,c,b...........etc letters (Bottom Photo) were crystal clear. No fuzzy ness?

On this UE46D7000 the images are dispalyed as in the photos,

The image is just not as sharp and clear as it was om my UE46D6530 with the 3D fault, im starting to wish I kept it now? :?

Are the panels that are now being shipped in the straight D7000 and D8000 series inferior/cheaper panels?

EDIT: I have just been on the D series Wiki the 3D fault part, and you can see how clear that 2D image is, even thought the photo is slightly blured...

Are Sammsung taking the pee or what???????????

Its like the new screens have bigger pixels, can someone compare post up photos of their D7 series?

Where can I download these images? I'll try them on my UE46D7000 when I get home (pre-ordered so would have been one of the first batches into the UK).

From the D series wiki at the front page of forum, Sorry I can't post a link because I am a new user so you will have to search yourself.

My D6530 tv definatly had a crystal image not like this rubbish, I need a few people to confirm, with photos of both a 6 series and 7 & 8 series, before I get back to the supplier.

OK, I've found them and will test them shortly. First thing that jumps to mind looking at the wiki page where those images are hosted - have you made the mistake of saving the preview version of the .jpg instead of clicking "full resolution" directly below the image?

OK, I've tried these images on my TV and they look just the same as yours, there's nothing wrong with your set. Examining the .jpg files on my PC monitor, it's immedately obvious that the size of that font is not going to look good at it's native resolution, there's blatant distortion around the letters, especialy the lower case ones, they're just way too small.

You're using these images to test something they were never intended to proove, they expose the 3D defect on the 6000 series very well but are not meant to proove or disproove anything on the 7/8 series. When I flick between the 2D and 3D versions supplied in the download, the tiny letters look just as crap in both cases, no difference. This only prooves 2 things:

1) the 7/8 series uses the same resolution when displaying the 2D version as it does for the 3D version hence the 2D and 3D images look identical (identically shit)
2) the resolution of the tiny writing is terrible

Any improvement you think you saw on your old 6000 set is just your imagination. Seems to me you want something to be wrong with it.

No mate I`m pretty sure those smaller letters were crystal clear on the D6530 series....

Just looking at a normal HD TV picture this D7000 series just does not look as crisp and clear as the D6xxx series.

But I could be wrong? I will go to my local store at weekend with these test files on a usb stick, and try them on both sets and others if i can.

Also on the D7000 series do you notice that the picture blurrs a lot? is there any way of switching this off, is this some kind of noise filtering?

Do you what the make of your panel is inside your set?

From a distance, yes, the letters look OK but when you look as close as you're showing in those pictures, that's the only way they're going to look. It's not difficult to open the jpg on a PC and see that for yourself, I think even Paint has a zoom option.

edit: Here it is zoomed in on Photoshop:

Look at the state of it! There is no way that is ever going to look "crystal clear" on any TV.

This is supposed to be vwxy:

You could be right?. I will report back :-)

After sitting in front of this 7 series for some time now, I'm pretty sure my 6 series had a better crisper picture in normal HD, even the SD channels looked better.

I also notice a lot of blurring of the picture going on, is this an attempt to cover up poor image quality?
I never noticed this on the 6 series?

Could the HD freeview tuner in this tv be of lesser quality?

I am watching ITV HD news and the picture is poor for a HD channel, sometimes its ok others its rubbish?

Sometimes its blurred.

Any ideas what's going on with it.

Cheers for you help :-)
