DLNA over WiFi ... pausing in HD videos

Hello,
I plugged to my tv a WiFi dongle (conceptronic C300RU) and I installed minidlna on a linux server. The problem is that the HD videos (720p or 1080p) are pausing and buffering every 30 seconds or one minute... I am thinking maybe there is too many to stream over an WPA2 WiFi connections? With non hd videos the playback is smooth, without interruptions.
Any of you had similar issue?

HD sucks over Wifi. Better use wired connection. You can try to set your wifi connection on 300mbit with AES crypt WPA2 and check all channels of the wifi signal( which one gets more speed).

Yes, I discovered that the WiFi channel of my AP was overlapping with another AP around... I changed the channel and now the throughput copying from the server where I have the video to a computer (smb) is from 1,5 MBps to 2,5MBps, did not tested yet though I think it is still not enough. I suppose I need as well a 300Mbps AP. I would like to have a wired connection, but in my 530 I do not know how (I regret I did not buy the 550 that has ethernet).

I have tested 1080p nfs share and works with no problem with 2.5MB/s (20Mbit/s). Proper module loaded with usb lan card probably will work.

or try>
Code: Select all
dd if=/"pathmount" of=/dev/null bs=16k
On my C6510 over ethernet lan get speed around 8MB/s (70Mbit/s) for local nfs share and 2.5MB/s (20Mbit/s) for internet nfs share(because of the internet speed limitation).

I recommend to use NFS share (more stable and get better speeds) mounted on UDP protocol. Probably will run on you linux server.

Thanks, I tested yesterday and I had no problems with 1080p videos over dlna (minidlna) and WiFi. I will test speed with the methods you told me.
The only thing is that over dlna I can't choose the language or subs on the videos. I would like to try nfs but for that I need to hack the tv and I still did not manage (info here

With Wifi-N it's fantastic. Transferring 7MB/sec and of course not pausing / lagging videos. IPTV is also great
