ES-Series Questions

Hello, I hope to purchase an E-Series Smart TV, either from the 6500 or 7000 range. But before hand, I need an answer to some questions, so I appreciate any help you can give:

1) I currently live in Germany. However, I need to install a couple of (free) apps that are only available from the UK app store. These apps are very important and being able to install them are a deciding factor on the television. How can I do this? Do I need to simply change the region of the TV to UK in the menu, or do I need to change firmware?

2) Likewise, is it possible to set up my own DNS addresses on the TV at all, in the network settings?

Thank you

Hello again. Sorry if I am pushy here, but does anyone know the answer to this, especially the first question. I am keen to buy the TV as soon as possible, but a decision to go with Samsung depends on if it is possible in any way to access the UK app store from Germany.

Likewise, is it possible that all I have to do is to set the location as UK from the very beginning when I first start the internet side of the TV, and it will set the App store to UK despite being in Germany?

I don't know for ES series yet but B/C/D series, it's possible to setup custom DNS.

You can use VPN to make you connect the TV from UK IP.
Well, TV doesn't have such VPN services but you can make it with help of $20 router device + OpenWRT + VPN hosting from UK.
Notice that, this is worst case scenario. Probably, you can find some easy software workarounds to install those applications later.

Thank you erdem_ua for your reply. I checked in a shop today and did find a place where at least a single DNS entry can be set up. I generally need two DNS servers, but maybe one is good.

Thanks for the idea of the VPN. I have been working on that as well in case the DNS servers don't work for me.

Only one problem of accessing the UK App store from a German bought Samsung. I couldn't find out any info on this for the ES series, so if you or anyone else knows please pass it on.

Once again, thanks for your help

On D series we can switch to different stores by entering some code to RC. Perhaps E series has same too.
ff 289 rew and enter.

Thanks for that answer. I will test the codes out.

One other thing I need to do is to stream videos from my NAS to the new Samsung TV. I believe this should be possible. However, normally when I have a PVR, when I have watched a show, I delete it. Is it possible to delete a video on the Samsung TV that was played from a remote NAS?

Actually, does anyone know where I can download a manual for the UE40ES6890 (I guess ES6880 or ES6800 would be the same). None came in the box, except for an assembly and quick start guide. Of course the basic operations are known, but there are a lot of details which I can't figure out, like how in the shop, the guy showed how to expand the image on the screen to fit the whole screen (one of my feeds has black bars on all sides).

I have looked for the manuals at Samsung (UK, US and Germany), but can't find it. Does anyone know where it can be found on the internet in PDF form?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate all your help.

Thanks for the link but I found that and no manual exists on that site. Only for Skype and three versions of the conformity certificate.

wait until early May
Statement from Samsung-Support:official sales beginning in Germany is May 2012. Then the website will be updated.
Therefore, we find the E-series not yet on www.samsung.de
