Hi.
I have this unit: ue37d6000
I would like to connect an existing external hdd to it, which has ext2 partition (it was used on a different linux based STB.
Will this work ?
Currently I cannot test it because the tv is at my parents, but I would like to know if it will work, otherwise I have to convert the partition.
If it doesn't , what partitions are supported ? Fat32 and (maybe) NTFS ?
Thanks in advance.

Definitely not.
Samsung removed support of ext3 (and 2,4) filesystems at kernel level. So your ext2 HDD will not be recognized by TV.
You have few choices:
either format/convert to fat32 (4Gb of filesize limitation...), NTFS (read only only) or xfs (Samsung uses this for its PVR recordings, so this filesiystem isn`t limited anyhow).
or you can connect your hdd to some other unix box with NFS or samba server and mount it on TV over network.

Damn. The drive is used mainly to store HD movies so fat32 is out of question. I want to be able to upload movies to it via FTP, so the only choise is xfs. Hopefully gparted can convert without data loss...
Thanks for the info!

Forgot to mention Ntfs-3g. We have this tool for your tv model, but tv must be rooted first.

Yes, I know ntfs-3g, but I've used the NTFS-3g in the past and it was slow compared to plain ext2.... not sure if it has evolved in time..
I don't know much about xfs, but hopefully it will have the same performance or compared to ext partitions , and if the hdd needs to be converted then it's the same if it's xfs or ntfs-3g..
I will root the device anyway ... I don't remember any of my devices to have original firmware
Thanks for the info

Well.. I've formatted the drive to xfs, unfortunately i've left a 100ms partition at the beginning (on which normally I had in the past an ext2 driver for windows).
Now the TV recognizes the first partition only (DAMN).
So I will have to reformat it again...
