Ummm, I don't see any "Info Link Service Type" item in my Service Menu...
Also, there is no "OTA Duration Test" item... but there is an "OTN Duration" item...
Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for the find! It worked as described above on PN51D8000 (plasma, US model). Haven't tried any of the apps yet except Version Flex View since I have a Fios account. Unfortunately it reported "Device is not supported" when I ran it.

Very interesting. Disabling "Serial line manipulation" kernel restriction generally requires patching some crucial bytes in running kernel image; virtually impossible to happen by pure accident with some random crash. Perhaps:
- new (unrestricted) kernel image got flashed from OTN upgrade server after setting it to "development" (?) - I wonder if authld is still active in your TV..
- there is some kind of hidden built-in mechanism we don't know of, for disabling serial console manipulation, possibly included in Samsung production-level kernel images (but apparently not included in kernel open sources released by Samsung).

EDIT: Just to make sure: you ended up with unrestricted RS232 console without executing SamyGO widget hack for D-series, right? I mean - with hack applied, it wouldn't be exactly a mystery ;)

No, with hack applied my RS-232 console is restricted (can only enter 0-9ABCDEF) in TDM and normally if TDM crashes console is still restricted. This time only with App crash I could type "reboot" for instance to restart the TV. After that it went back to restricted. So something to do with the crash itself disabled restrictions.

Go to the hideen menus with ruSamsungTVCommunicator click 3Speed (service menu appears again, with hidden options visible).
I got it, my tv is UE46D5700ZF.

nevermind, I didn't realize this was normal when hack is applied.
