which protocol is the best to play movies and photos over the network on a D6 Samy?
DLNA or SMB/NFS ?
what are the advantages and disadvantages ?

Its already written somewhere. Dlna depends on the server and the client, format support configuration and so on. With samba you mount the networkshare and can play anything that is natively supportet
