Mysterious Behavior

Can anyone shed some light on it?

I had the same behavior when I connected a BD-E8300 and later a BD-D8500 to a UE40ES8090 TV with the exception, that at a later point in time the BD-D8500 changed the behavior. But one step after the other:

1. I connected the TV directly to the antenna outlet (cable) and started automatic channel search. I found some 400+ TV, radio and data channels.
2. I did the same with the BD-E8300 and found only appr. 140 channels.
3. I connected the TV and BD in three different modes and measured the signal strength:
Mode I: TV directly connected to the antenna outlet
Mode II: BD connected to the antenna outlet, and TV connected to the BD antenna output connector
Mode III: same as mode II, but BD powered on.

At the TV I read the "Signal strength" and "Bit error level"

These are the results at e.g. 3 tested channels:

[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 1[/cell][cell]78[/cell][cell]0-12[/cell][/row]
[row][cell]Mode 3[/cell][cell]Channel 2[/cell][cell]96[/cell][cell]0[/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 3[/cell][cell]73[/cell][cell]0-24[/cell][/row]

[row][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 1[/cell][cell]52[/cell][cell]12-73[/cell][/row]
[row][cell]Mode2[/cell][cell]Channel 2[/cell][cell]94[/cell][cell]0[/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 3[/cell][cell]41[/cell][cell]98-404[/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 1[/cell][cell]break down[/cell][cell]2000[/cell][/row]
[row][cell]Mode3[/cell][cell]Channel 2[/cell][cell]cannot remember[/cell][cell]cannot remember[/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 3[/cell][cell]break down[/cell][cell]2000[/cell][/row][/table]

But now the mystery comes in: While I can accept, that the signal strength goes down and the bit error level increases when the antenna signal is looped via the BD, the signal more or less completely disappeared when I switched on the BD equipment. This happened with the BD-E6300 and also with the BD-D8500. Later in the evening, however, the signal via the DB-D8500 even was a little bit stronger in mode 3, resp. when I powered the BD. The new results were:

[table][row][cell][/cell][cell][/cell][cell]Signal strength[/cell][cell]Bit error level[/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 1[/cell][cell]73[/cell][cell]0[/cell][/row]
[row][cell]Mode 3[/cell][cell]Channel 2[/cell][cell]95[/cell][cell]0[/cell][/row]
[row][cell][/cell][cell]Channel 3[/cell][cell]57[/cell][cell]12-281[/cell][/row][/table]

I swear, I did not change any wires in between, but I tried to change some wires, power cable etc. afterwards. This did not change the final result. I'm very uncertain why I have seen the signal breakdown on both equipment the first time. I supposed something like a ground loop - which I cannot comprehend.

So my big question is: Did anybody discover something like?

I will return the BD-D8500 for other reasons. But if I have to count on the crude behavior with the new device, I cannot use it. Therefore before buying a new one I would like to have some explanation.
