Skype on PSD6900

Hi there,
Spent hours reading posts re: Skype. Installed one on my TV, click on Skype icon and get "Connecting.." message... forever...
Funnily enough I even have a Skype camera sitting around (bought for $10
), really keen to try and get it going. Any advice much appreciated.
PS: after all the reading I think that I installed 2010 Skype app and I actually need 2011 version (10+mb), has anyone got one?
