I'm British, but live in Germany and I'd like to get an ES6800 (or another 6-series model), but want the UK FreeSat interface.
If I buy the German version of the TV will I be able to enable this easily? If so, how?
I asked a couple of salesmen, they didn't know.
I asked FreeSat, they didn't know.
I asked Samsung, they said I would have to buy a UK model.
So I thought I'd ask the experts!

In the UK, there is an extended EPG available for all Free-To-Air satellite services broadcast from 28E, called FreeSat:
http://www.freesat.co.uk/products/hd-tv-range
It's a really nice interface, with lots of interactive functionality, fully programme descriptions and a 7 day guide (not just the now and next I get without it).
I only want to watch the Free-To-Air service anyway. I've already got them on my old set top box, but without the FreeSat interface.
If I buy the TV from the UK it comes with this functionality built-in. If I buy it here it doesn't - or at least it's disabled. So I figured there must be some hack to re-enable it...

just guess: almost all TV`s let you to change Local set (using extended menu enable tricks). Maybe if changed to UK all necessary options could be unlocked? But this would be possible to know just only after you buy device or someone else is using non UK TV inside UK.

Maybe isn't good enough for me to risk it, so I just ordered a UK model from amazon.co.uk.
Any set-up tips for newbies?

Ridiculous! The UK and German TV set HW should be equivalent, it's all done in settings, but if you don't have access, then perhaps its just easier to buy a UK model. Typical Samsung BS!
PS. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if you updated the firmware with a UK version...

Maybe by selecting English as the Language it adds the Freesat option?
Also can anyone tell me why a UE46ES7000 is over ?300 cheaper to buy in Poland than in the UK? Maybe it has no Freesat?

No that doesn't work (for my model)...
2 pairs of 3D glasses are included in the Amazon deal, then the guys who bring the TV from Korea by horse and carriage, have to feed their horses and pay for the ferry ticket to the UK. After having cleaned off the dust and put another 100 ? in their pockets, the Amazon shop can sell it to you. Most non-phone related consumer electronics are much cheaper in eastern Europe...
