bad cable/ wrong contacts on vga / soldering mistakes.

first check cable ( do loopback test), then once again - pinout...

Code: Select all

bad cable/ wrong contacts on vga / soldering mistakes.
i'm using "TTL-232R-3V3-AJ" cable.

so i don't think bad cable./ contacts 3.5 audio jack(ex-link)/ not soldering mistakes.

how should i do?????

Maybe your tx and rx are swaped? Can be 3.5 jack pinout not match your service port pinout. Check wiki. Also do loopback test (make short circuit rx-tx and check terminal, if cable is ok, you should see what you`re typing).

Or maybe there is yet another problem: serial connectors in some ES8000 models (eg. PSxxES8000) are using normal (+/-12V) RS232 signaling..

So, in E-series models (just a guess, I'm not responsible for any possible damages):
1) if the 3.5mm mini-jack connector is labeled "ExLink" or "Ex-Link", it may need regular +/-12V RS232 Ex-Link cable (like documented in wiki for B-series);
2) if it's labeled "Service", I think it will most likely need 3.3V RS232 cable.

It's a good precaution to check what signal level you have before plugging your cable :
To check wheather it's 12v-RS232 or not, just look at the Exlinx-TX voltage : -12v for RS232, 3.3v otherwise
