I purchased the UE46ES6300 Samsung TV in the UK but have now moved to Australia. Is there any way I can change the regional settings for this TV to Australia?
The only regional setting options I have in the TV menu settings is UK or Ireland which don't allow me to use the EPG. I have managed to tune the TV with Digital and Analogue channels but I am unable to schedule any recording or view the EPG.

Any way to make this fully compatible to Australia by upgrading it with a suitable firmware?

use one of IR methods to unlock extended service menu and change your local type to whatever you want. Could be here is no Australia, because of different firmware this region uses. But who knows, check first...
