Ok Details of the TV:
LA46D550K7 (D series Model in New Zealand)
Model Code: LA46D550
Current Version: 2011/03/09_001011
Software Version: T-MST4DEUC-1011.0
This TV is not hacked at all and I am just trying to get internet in the TV through wifi network

I have got a wifi dongle which I have reset the vid:pid in a hardware way. See the lsusb output from my linux computer:

Before:

When I put in this dongle in the USB port, TV recognises it and wifi setup pops up.
My home wifi network is:
SSID Broadcast = on
Security = WPA2 ( I have tried with open and WEP as well)
The wifi router and the TV are in the same room within 10 metres and no obstruction

Problem:
1. The TV scans for network but does not find any
2. I manually put in SSID and Security key, the TV tires to connect and I can see that the MAC address is coming up as 0.0.0.0
3. I have tried the same with OPEN and WEP network as well with same result. TV is not able to get the MAC address from the dongle.

So that is the problem. Any solution for this problem.

Note the computer can get the MAC address from this dongle:

Please note once again this TV is not hacked at all and a newer firmware is available (T-MST4DEUC-1029.0). I would only install it if it has better compatibility with other hacks as detailed in this forum.

I have some further test on my Bedroom TV (Details in Signature). This TV is also not hacked yet. This is what I have done to my LA32C530.

1. Enter Service Menu and got Hotel Mode ON
2. Change the Model number to LC550 (need to do this get Network -> Wireless activated in this TV)
3. Connect the same wifi dongle (vid:pid changed, see above)
4. TV recognises the dongle but when scanning does not find any wifi network. I can see the led in the dongle blinks while scanning so it's kind of trying. LED gets steady when scanning finished. See attached pic

5. I manually put all the network details (I work in networking field so these details are correct). See the attached pic

6. Network testing failed

7. Key here is that this TV correctly identifies the MAC id of the wifi dongle which my Living Room TV (LA46D550) could not.

So I still does not have wifi in both the TVs.

Suggestions please.

until now no one succeed. Here are some firmware related issues and we don`t know how to force such an adapter work properly. Even with rooted tv.

Hey thanks mate. Sorry what I am missing here. What about all those tutorials about changing vid:pid and then been successful getting wifi in their TV.

The only other thing I can think of is the firmware issue as you mentioned.
What about this wiki:

Anyone else succeeded doing this.. Please suggest. All what I want to do is to get wifi in the TV with a non-Samsung wifi adapter.
