HDMI-CEC control of Samsung TVs?

I've got a project that uses a Samsung TV to display a computer (HDMI) screen but with picture-in-picture enabled. I'm currently using LIRC to set this up (only 11 IR keys needed - sigh!) using infra-red but I'd prefer something more reliable, ideally with feedback.

Since I'm using a Raspberry-Pi, I have access to HDMI-CEC (aka Anynet+), but I've not managed to get the Samsung TV to actually do anything when sent CEC commands.

Does anyone have any experience in this area? The model of the TV is a LE46C580 which can be best described as a "not as smart as it looks" TV i.e. it doesn't support the Samsung Network Protocol.

Thanks for any pointers,
Papadeltasierra.

did you activate anynet+ in settings menu at your tv? (for my UExxC6xxx it is the second last option when you call the tv menu)
