STC1100 not compatible with UA40H5500

Four years ago, I bought a UA40D5000 brand new thinking I could use it for skype and also bought a STC1100. The camera has been collecting dust, as that model of tv had no SMART tv functionality, could not be hacked to have SMART tv functionality and Skype did not work though a SMART blueray player. Basically the tv was too old for the camera.
Recently, the power supply died (planned obsolescence of manufactured parts). Luckily it was still under warranty and Samsung generously replaced my tv with a new one. UA40H5500. Which has SMART tv functionality.
So I figure yay, I can now use my special samsung skype camera to run skype.
No.
The tv I now have is too new for the camera.
Is there a way to hack this model of tv to work with the older model of camera, or do I give up on the camera that I have never used, sell it on ebay and buy a model of camera I know works with the model of tv that I have.
This incompatibility really bugs the crap out of me.
