Unbricking last step - EEPROM found - Model greyed out!

Dear all,

after a sleepless night I'm now stuck in the (hopefully) last stage of unbricking my UE55C8000... It was stuck in a reboot look after I set the wrong model in the service menu.
I managed to find the EEPROM on the back of the mainboard and short the circuit. I do so while the TV is in it's reboot loop.
Afterwards, I get the warning, that I need to set the new values in the service menu.
(if I then remove the short circuit and enter the service menu, I get back into the reboot loop -- so I leave it)
I use info-menu-sleep-power to enter the service menu -- there I can set the Type (55A2UF8E), the Tuner (T2) and the Colour (Milky) -- but I can't set the Model -- this one is greyed out with a UC7700 instead of UC8000.
Do I have to send Factory+3Speed to unlock the model?
If so, I'm using the ruSamsungTVCommunicator for that -- it works fine after updating the network settings in normal TV mode -- but as soon as I enter the service menu, I get a TCP error. I guess due to the short circuit?
Does anybody have an idea how to solve that dilemma?

Many many thanks!
Thomas

Use handy with IR port like galaxy s4/5. More info on wiki.

Thanks for the quick reply -- I don't have any of the other methods mentioned in the wiki here... :-(
So I'd have to buy a logitech harmony (not that I don't want one).
Can somebody confirm that the model is greyed out without Factory+3Speed? I thought it was only the country settings... So I'm a bit nervous about whether the remote can fix the issue.

Thanks!

you can build your own IR transmitter. Take IR LEDs from unused remote controls. Schematic is very simple. And yes, you can unlock this with factory+3speed.
Ask your neighbourns, relatives, co-workers etc. I believe you will find smartphone which will do the job well. The IR blaster, which comes with F series is suitable, ask on local tech-shop, maybe they will borrow you one? :)

Any LIRC copatible devices are also applicable (like dBox2 or serial port transmitter)

were you able to set the required options in advanced service menu?
a good fedback is almost as valuable as a donation (;

yes -- it was just a matter of factory-3speed to get the "model" field active again and set the right values.

i had to remove the short circuit just after entering the service menu, so the settings stay saved.
