Alternative 3d-mode Support?

Hi,
i have a nice ue48h6470 and i enjoy 3d - gaming a lot.
now i just found out that my computer can put out fullhd3d 60 in checkerboard mode which looks WAY better than 720p framepacked.
Now my TV doesn't seem to support that. Is that a hardware limit or is this something one could add to the firmware?
