If you shorten pins and let TV start, it starts with default values. Then set TV to stand by, shorten pins again and enter to service menu by
make factory reset.
Give us big picture and you get pins to join marked.
Probably the chip we need is you mentioned - it in most cases is atmel chip. But you know, we can burn yor mainboard if join not those pins. Actualy mb could be burned if you join more pins or not right pisn on right chip
I see at least two 8 pin chips on the board...
If there is no more 8 pin chips, your is
Instruction what to do:
Red line: TV of from wall. Join pins pins 5 and 6 shown in red line, do not release it and plug tv to wall. After (if it turns to standby mode directly, press info menu mute power and wait until lcd lightens on, release pins), if tv starts to power on w/o going to stand by - wait until LCD lightens, release pins and power of to stand by mode.
Go to service menu (info - menu - mute - power) while joining red line pins and do factory reset (First screen first option - factory reset).
If you did not get any success with red line, repeat by joining blue line pins (4 and 5).
Be very carefull, you can burn chip or whole m/b....

Did blue or red line work?
After factory reset it is good to compare SM settings with same tv as yours. After i did FR on my TV, all settings were as is, nothing changed, but i red that sometimes some settings are gone and you have to get it back manually.
Your TV has no PVR code, so not available (yet), even if you see PVR greyed in SM.
You can try hack it with HotelMode (as C550), but here is chance to fail if your TV does not recognise ext3 for settings export/import...
what is firmware version on your TV?
