Compiling Samsung TV Linux Kernel

Post by erdem_ua »

Hi Everone.
This topic is important because it lead us to use any USB dongle on our TV's.

I wanted to know that any one tried to compile samsung TV kernel from their sources?
I tried once with cross-arm but I failed. I don't know error message exactly. Could you try too?
(If you don't understand what I am talking about or don't know compiling linux kernel well, forget it :D )
If you cannot compile whole kernel but modules, It's okey too.

Required tools are cross-arm compiling tools and source codes from Samsung
http://www.samsung.com/global/opensource

You have to know that '32B650.zip' files WiFi drivers are removed. You can found them at 'LE40B650T2P.zip' file.

Good Luck!

hi,

now it is no problem to compile stuff for leonid boards, took me just 3 weeks to build a working toolchain

but for other boards i need some infos and tester(s).
see:
http://forum.samygo.tv/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19&p=79#p79

also for the wifi-dongle, no model names but usb ids or the driver name you already use for it.

ps: next week i am verry busy :(

@Arris69 take a rest for a week! we are patient :)

Hi cowenchicken!
It's better to show us how to do it.
So personally I needed to compile rndis_wlan USB stick.
Once I setup samsung kernel, I try to import other wifi dongle modules from original 2.6.18, than
I try to merge it with Compat-wireless (which needs minimum 2.6.22 kernel)

Hi,

I'm wondering about compiling a linux kernel which contains Mike Galbraith's scheduler patch (2.6.37-rc2 or later). This seems to significantly increase cpu performance. (just google "The ~200 Line Linux Kernel Patch That Does Wonders" ) Furthermore it also is nice to have telnet or ssh instead of netcat

Since kernel compiling is new to me (im reading up on it, 1200 pages which seems to be a synopsis :o ) it will take me a while. So i thought it'll be worth mentioning it here.

Any thoughts would be welcome

save your time. samsung not published sources of there driver... also not the key to sign the new kernel.
and 200 line of code don't make a ferrari from a skoda...
