Also no dev tools other than IDA debugger and gcc-mips at your scenario.

What irony? just thinking you are trying to unlock/add pvr code to your firmware. Don't you request for at other topic?
And no dev tools for C series. Enabling PVR or ant low level hacking requires those apps. Thats all.
And what do you think we are doing here? Just reverse engineering and hacking our TVs.
So we are already in this project. If you find anything new that we don't know than we move that way to dig it deeper.
Or anyone request help than we show where to start. I don't understand why do you think this as an irony.
Or do you making the irony by your-self?

Ok, make it clear. Here some of us (and also mine) english not enough to understand idiomatic expressions, etc...

IDA support MIPS architecture disassemble but don't know if it fully make it for MIPS. You needed to use latest version of it.
Also I have doubts if seasoned programmer could handle such a problem. Do you have any ASM knowledge?
If you don't it's better to start learn ASM for the job.

As PVR cannot be enabled in C5xx models (no code for that unless someone genius would rewrite it), better move our efforts to something else. For example you can try to figure out how to play audio from our code.
