C8000 doesn't have PVR by default?

Re: un46c8000xf PVR
AFAIK you also needed to insert XFS formated device like USB HDD/Flash from USB for enable recording...
Please look the Wiki pages, I think there is needed a guide about PVR at C series.

hi, c8xx has pvr by default
just plug an HDD and tv will ask if it shall reformat it
after ticking yes, it will format the hdd. you can start using the pvr by pressing the record button. timeshift is similar also. you can also create 2 partitions on hdd, one for pvr and the other for storing mkv files. tv will format the first one for pvr
firmware version is not a problem, it works on all

Re: un46c8000xf PVR
hi
the information on that link is for lower Samsung C series. On those models, the TV hardware supports the PVR but the firmware restricts the users from using it. But for c8xx, that is not the case
The problem for your tv is (in fact, it is the usb or HDD, not the TV), samsung TVs do not work with all usb memory or ext. HDD brands/models, it is somehow selective
. if you cannot activate PVR with one model, you may try other models. There is one list, prepared and updated by TV owners in cnet forum and you can access that list by googling "external usb hdd compatibility for samsung tv"
I have been using pvr in my c8790 (which is quite idenitical to your tv model) without any problem. I use one 40 GB and one 750 GB ext HDD
I hope, this helps

Re: un46c8000xf PVR
unfortunately, you re right. what I have learned after a short investigation is that there is a great resistance from film makers in US against PVR, due to copy right issues and they are trying to block this capability on devices imported to US
Re: un46c8000xf PVR
You have to downgrade firmware to T-VALAUSC-1026 or 1029 first.
the 1035 is restricted.
