Does anybody know if Samsung's pathetic (and craptacular) CE Dimming is capable of being disabled in the 2011(d 6500-d7000-d8000) models? CE Dimming is where the LEDs shut off completely during a very dark/black scene, making for a very unnatural transition to "black" from a lit background. The 2009 (a656)models could disable it via the service menu, but I'm interested in finding out if the 2011 models can have that "feature" disabled in any way. The 2010 models(c650), like the one I have, do not allow for disabling of CE Dimming, and thus one loses a very great amount of fine tuning control because of the necessary sacrifices to PQ in order to bypass the "always on" functionality of the CE Dimming feature.

I have the same problem with D6100.
This is very annoying. Sometimes the picture goes too dark to see anything.
This get to my nerves every time I change channel- the picture is like 1,5 seconds black, ant tv makes it darkes, so almost I cant see the left upper corner channel info (there is channel numer and so on).

Well, that 3D Alliance just created by some TV companies recently including big ones.But I don't sure if that standard applies next E series TVs of Samsung. Because HW designs completed much time ago. Probably 2012 series doesn't support it but 2013 ones...

AFAIK Samsung >= D7000 supports local dimming feature already.(Or does it 8000?) Don't experienced yet. From D5000, those all FULL LED TVs. I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean "AMOLED" like screens?

Also FPR is much more better than D6000 series 3D. Because D6 series has problem, has "quarter"HD 3D resolution. But modals >=D7000 has Full HD 3D. Those have better quality of 3D ,using shutter glass, comparing to FPR detail. But actually don't experienced FPR at home but just in shop. I think it's good technology than comparing to active shutter since doesn't using complex glasses and not need batteries to operate. Also cheaper 3D glasses...

For curing your issue, might disable "dynamic" contrast or disable "auto energy saving" probably increase the performance on low light. but will not solve it completely.

I think we could put back light "override" application to set light level continuously. So TV doesn't have control of back-light adjusting. This will cure the problem...

Yes, but all is LED does not matter if they are edge or micro-dimming led...
Also I am in this back-light functions. Might place back-light dimming disable app soon...

Yes. Menu, Picture, Advanced Settings, Shadow detail. Set that to the max, i.e. +2. It doesn't disable dynamic backlighting completely, but it reduces it enough so that it's not noticeable anymore.

Riduculous name for it, I really found that by trying every possible setting.
