Just install the pl2303 driver that comes with the cable or download from the official Prolific website and it recognize the cable as COM port. After that is the same procedure (use puty or windows terminal connection). I found some problems with the driver on windows 7 64-bit (maybe because I tried the latest drivers) and tried on another machine with Windows XP (PL2303 driver from the CD that comes....it says year 2003) and works great!
