Which operating system do you use for the connection UBUNTU? Windows or something else? USB adapter?

nope. you can`t install telnet to D series. Neither over cable nor other way... Also no ssh. This is not supported by kernel.

But if you need root access AND your firmware is not restricted (not recent), you can get shell using SamyGO widget.
