BD Firmware Downgrade (SamyGO Proof of Concept)

I have a US (Region 1) BD-D5700ZA running 1028 firmware (6/21/2012). I would like to guinea pig for the downgrade.

Look at page 16 posted by me, it is confirmed that US Region 1 (BD-D5700) WORKED...!!! Just follow my instructions and you'll be fine.

Like I said, I can confirm that US Region 1 (BD-D5700) firmware 1028 downgraded to 1015 successfully. That being said, it should work for all Region 1 D5700, including 5700ZA. You just need to keep trying. One more thing, make sure after downgraded to "1015", turn OFF update via "Standby Mode",
(Settings, Support, Software Upgrade, Download in Standby Mode: OFF).

Can't get my BD D5500 to recognize any new firmware ("No software to upgrade currently"). Did everything as described, changed DNS for my router and BD Player, did a factory reset and cold booted.

Model Code: BD-D5500-ZF
Software Version: BSP-D5500ZF-1028.0
Firmware: B-BRCMBSP 1028.0

OP says 1025 is not supported, nothing about 1028 though, so I guess it should work?
Should downgrading 1028 work or isn't it accessible yet?

If 1028 is not supported yet, I'd gladly be the guinea pig for this one

Still couldn't figure out whether I'm doing anything wrong or version 1028 is not supported yet - any help on this topic would be appreciated.
My Player is Region 2, could this be the problem?

Hello... I have a BD-D5500 with 1025 firmware. When I connect to I get an error stating "no software to upgrade currently". Now I have read through the posts and can see that others with the same model unit and firmware version successfully downgrade, but I am not having any luck. Am I doing something wrong? I am also getting the "no software to upgrade currently" error. I assumed this was because the firmware was "unsupported" - thus why I volunteered to be a guinea pig. I followed the steps davidx posted and got this exact error every time.

BD-D6900S with FIRURDEUC Firmware shows some problems with the front buttons on the Player, not reacting when pushed, also I can't get SamyGO extensions to work....

EDIT: Samygo works fine now, but needs some modifications, the Virt.USB is mounted at the wrong placeholder... I switched it to sda2 and works fine now.... still front buttons have some issues (need to push long (very long) for Player OFF)

Precheck:
make sure in bd's settings menu OTN is enabled (screenshots anywhere????)
if you once played around in service menu, try to remember you changed some settings to develop(er|ing), if yes set it back to operating, if you never changed it in service menu there is no reason to change now anything!!!!!.

1. set dns (depends on you network setup on tv or/and on your router) to:
   
2. switch device off and on again (better make a cold start, take from power for some seconds)
3. check from bd's menu for firmware update via internet
4. install firmware if it detects one (firmware for some devices are not patched, it's original samsung firm with just changed versions number to xx90)
   • if you get an error at ~90% of install process turn tv off for ~3min and try again
5. if no firmware are shown -> report it (not to samsung but here in forum )
6. set your dns back to normal operational (if you don't do this your device will be banned after 2 days on server due senseless filling up of logfiles)
7. turn device off and on again
8. and don't forget to disable further firmware updates!!! (samsung won't make any technical improvements in new firmwares)
