Custom made remote with latest firmware

I used the ruSamsungTVCommunicator for the 3speed and function keys but they've stopped working with the latest firmware on my UE46D5500. I looked at the wiki page for creating your own remote using IR LEDs and custom codes from your phone and was wondering if I will be able to use this method even with the latest firmware?

Yes, custom made IR will work with all samsung models independent from firmware.
Just only (if wav method is used) be awared - just few smartphone models have enough amplification for signal on headphones output. Better to use laptop or pc (100% success).
