DLNA Storage

I have a Samsung ES8090 TV - I have connected a HDD to it to watch staff while the PC is off but moving staff to it and deleting old staff is a pain since I have to disconnect the drive and connect it to the PC because the TV doesn?t have file management capabilities (hope Samsung add those eventually) - I was wondering if anyone know of a router that gas a built in DLNA server capabilities so it can share usb storage connected to its usb port via DLNA.

I'm using a fritzbox 7270 and an usb-hdd... but I got the same problem.
However, with the samsung-web-browser I can connect to the web-interface and update the content.

Does the router have built in DLNA server that shares the usb connected HDD via DLNA?
And what problem can you have - it's connected to the router so you can easily manage content from the PC. But you said you connect from the TV web browser - i tried to do this to my router (it also has a usb connection) using the same string i would use to connect to it from my PCS but it didn't work - how do you do that with yours router?

I have never done hacks to my TV (I recently bought it) - will it be possible to hack the ES8090 and will it allow me to make it present Hebrew subtitles correctly. Also what does that mean manage my files over ftp/samba - will you add built it file management support to the TV or do you mean I will be able to access the attached storage from my PC and manage it. Also, will this prevent me from updating the TV firmware (does your hack affect the firmware) - because I am waiting for the firmware which will resolve the diming issues the TV has during dark scenes - maybe this is something you can/plan to resolve with your hack?

Right, my router supports DLNA-standards.

And what problem can you have

Moving and deleting content with the tv web browser is a pain, too.
I only use this if I'm too lazy to walk up the stairs

I think ftp-managment with the E(s) hack is the big deal.

how do you do that with yours router?

Maybe you can find an URL for NAS-managment in your router-manual, too.

You could always get something like this: https://www.modmypi.com/shop/raspberry- ... dmypi-case and attach some USB HDDs to it. It's pretty low-cost, it doesn't consume that much energy at all and I guess the hardware should be enough for a DLNA server/torrent box. Also, since it runs Debian, you have many more possibilities than you would with a router (like netatalk for AFP sharing, or samba for Windows, etc).
