Hello all,

I have two BD-D8200 that i really want to downgrade to the pre-cinavia firmware.

I've read this topic a few times now but I am not sure if all I have to do is follow the instruction on the first page in terms of changing the DNS settings?

Thanks

Succesful downgrade BD-D6500 from 1029.0

Post by alpm1 »

Hi all from Mexico!
Succesfull downgrade, BD-D6500.

Firmware installed:
BSP-D6500ZX-1029.0 07/24/2012 (Region A, 4)

I followed the steps on page 1 of this thread.
Changed the DNS, on router Primary and Secondary DNS, on player in network configuration.
After DNS change the player showed No Internet connection in Network status, no problem here.
Started firmware download and install, everything was OK.
It seems that SmartHub is working ok, Youtube ok, Cinavia crap is gone.

I am using OpenDNS.com temporarily to block http://www.samsungotn.net, because my modem does not have specific site blocking, this to avoid firmware download attempts.
I know that firmware download attempts can be disabled from Service Menu.

One last question:
Which are the keys sequence to access Service Menu with the remote control ??

Thanks, regards

Hi
I just managed to successfully downgrade the 1009.0 firmware to 1003, based on the steps from page 1, due to cinavia protection. already tested and works nice..NO MORE CINAVIA FOR ME!! :)

Also added a filter on my router for the BD to prevent automatic upgrade.

Awesome guide. Thanks guys!

It is clearly written on the first post: firmware downgrade is possible ONLY online.
Firmware name and version you can check on software upgrade menu (just to know what do you have on board).

Successfull downgrade BD-D6900

Post by batteries4ever »

I have a BD-D6900S-ZG which I absolutely adore, until I upgraded it with Software BPH-D6900EUB-1010.1 :o .
This forum provides the very first glimmer of hope of restoring what I always thought to be my BluRay player - nope it belongs to Hollywood & Co.
One reason I would pass up on Sony is that over the years they pulled mean tricks to their own customers, installing root software on a PC and such and causing my CD only to play on certain devices (but certainly not on my PC). It makes sense as they own a lot of movies and music and think that protecting that with all means against their customers makes sense.

Tip: how do you know whether the DNS server setting is effective? First I pretended to upgrade with the usual settings, in my case it found 1011 software. press cancel to interrupt the download of the new version--- time enough!
If I now change the DNS to 46.4.199.222 on the Bluray and find the same version it doesn't work...

However, with the new DNS seerver I now found version 1103, updated and Cinavia seems to have gone--------- Thank you so much!
Then switch off the update during standby and switch back the DNSserver (in my case to 192.168.1.1).

Model : Samsung Blu Ray Player BD-D5300-XL (Live in India but dont know whether its region coded)
Current Firmware Installed : BSP-D5300XL-1025.0

I wish to downgrade my firmware because of the cinavia issue.

First Upgrade : I had earlier upgraded by firmware using a CD rom which I still have and that firmware was not having any CINAVIA issue.
Second Upgrade : However, after upgrading further via internet, to the present installed firware version BSP-D5300XL-1025.0, I have cinavia issue.

I was trying to downgrade using the via internet method keeping the DNS to 46.4.199.222
When I try to download by this method, I get the following error " Failed to Connect. Error Code: 400 Invalid Parameter. The latest software is not yet available".

Please help me get downgraded.

PS : if there anyway I can mount the firmware in my CD on your site and get it from there ?

HELP :(
