Re: Boycott - Genetically Modified Foods and Organisms
GMOs definition is different than that. Look at wikipedia for that.plcnetru wrote:My father and my mother made me - I'm genetically modified organism ...erdem_ua wrote:I am bussy with protestiong Genetically Modified Foods and Organisms in Turkey...![]()
NewAge boycotting genetically modified firmware v2005
I think you missed the point. This is serious problem. If you wanted to ate them, you are free.
If your father and mother ate GMOs, than you could have a less brain, more foots and you cannot make jokes like that.
Think about it.

I think this thread has got nothing to do with Samsung firmware and surroundings, but hey, what the heck.erdem_ua wrote:GMOs definition is different than that. When you consume live material, be it plants or animals, inside your gatrointestinal tract, the DNA in those materials is reduced to smaller bits that will not be built into your own. During cell division or mitosis, the DNA in your own cells is duplicated and equally divided over the two new cells. Much like digital copies, replicated DNA is normally an _exact_ copy of the original. New sequences of codons, coding for different proteins don't get built-in that easily, even if they reach the inside of the cell nucleus, which is highly unlikely. So by eating genetically modified organisms (we do it all the time, all of us, really, GM soy beans are added to almost anything you eat) chances are extremely slim that you will grow extra feet, less brains or anything similar. After all, we don't grow tails, leaves, flowers and what have you, by eating non-GMO food. The human replicatory system is quite robust in that sense, anything irregular (apart from the occasional trisomy) is rightfully rejected as potential offspring, or mankind would have become extinct ages ago. BTW, we all are genetically modified organisms, the process bringing it about is called evolution and has been around for quite some time now.
On the other hand, the danger of GMO's, in my opinion, is not so much in the modified DNA, but in the purpose of modifying it. By making crops resistant to all kinds of viruses and chemical pesticides etc. through genetic modification, food gets more toxic from the chemical stuff that's been sprayed onto it.
For that reason, I've been growing my own (non-sprayed, on non-chemically fertilized soil) vegetables. Tastes better, a lot fresher than from the supermarket, and, last but not least, cheaper. Furthermore, by doing so, you get a feeling of seasons (strawberries in the summertime only). My kids are the only ones at their school who know that potatoes grow in soil, and that you have to dig for them when harvesting.
have fun protesting,
