Auto-update of DVB-T Channel list

Post by newthor »

Since I havent't found - with the forum search function - any previous topic on this matter, here is an issue that I'm currently experiencing.

Before successfully "italianizing" my LED UE46C7000WWXXH (for details refer to this thread viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5785), I used to set Spain as the default country for the search of DVB-T channels.
As long as such setting was in charge, every day there were ADDED or REMOVED channels in the channel list: this meant that a sort of auto-update procedure of the available channels was performed by the TV and the channel list itself was updated accordingly, on daily basis.

Now that my TV is "italianized" (current firmware T-VALDEUC_3008.3), such feature is not working anymore and, furthermore, there are lot less channels available than before.

Is there any setting, i.e. in the Service Mode, which must be set in order to have the "auto-update channel list" feature available ? :?:

Is it possible that such feature is only available with more recent firmwares, such as the T-VALDEUC_3015.0 (which was installed before performing the downgrade) ? :?:

Any help will be strongly appreciated.

just one question: in which part of the world are you living that an auto-update of DVB-T channels is necessary on a daily basis?
Perhaps auto-update of channels is attendant to country setting and TV "kindly" helps you to watch only the "right" channels.

Don't now if you tried this before (I'm not using auto-update functions at all nor DVB-T tuner) but may help you:
- go back to Spain in country setting
- update your channel list (complete search)
- export channel list to USB
- disable auto-update of channel lists
- switch again to Italy-setting
- import spanish channel list from USB

Andysilent, please find my answers below.

I live in Italy.
The reason why an auto-update procedure of DVB-T channels is sometimes necessary results from the fact that the quality of signal is not good, so it often happens that I have to choose between different frequencies available for the same channel.

I actually don't know whether or not an "auto-update" setting exists inside the menu! That's the focus of this post! :?
So, since it is unknown to me if such feature exists and, in case, where it is located, I can't disable it as per your suggestion @ item 4 above.

I tried and export the channel list relevant to one country (let's say Spain) and lately tried to import it, after setting a different country (Italy): unfortunately the procedure failed, since an error message appeared saying that the country was "wrong". :(

the 3008.3 firmware is good for advanced menu unlocked but if you want a firmware that improve the receptions of the tuner you have to install 3015. (in the changelog it says that improve tuner reception)
if you have to do update of dvb-t channel list the signal that you receive is worse or not stable.
the problem isn't on the tv side but on dtv provider side.
Now that you have italianized your tv you can update to 3015 back the tv set remain italianizing after the update.
if you need to change the parameter of service menu after that you re-update to 3015 fw you can use ru-samsungtvcommunicator.

Thank you very much tempinbox for your answer.
I will update the FW to T-VALDEUC_3015.0 and see if this solves the problem. ;)

Just for info: where did you manage to find the changelog file for fw T-VALDEUC_3015.0 ?

UPDATE
I've loaded fw T-VALDEUC 3015.0 but nothing seems to have changed with regards to tuner's reception of DVB-T channels. :(
There is no evidence (i.e. channels marked in the channel list as "added" or "removed") of any auto-update procedure of the channels performed by the TV.
