What is your HDD format? NTFS?
You have better to use FAT32. But it cannot have files > 8GB...
Formatting your HDD with NTFS again might help...

provided that your TV is rooted: deleting the file /mtd_contents/database/Ace.dat could help

Just wondering, is it possible to stream from an external hard disk connected to my Mac? If so, how do I enter the path?

Any help is very welcome.

use any dlna server for mac.
