BD-E5900

From what I've read on this forum there is no way to downgrade the firmware for this Blu-ray player using the dns trick. However, I have successfully upgraded to version 1062.1 via usb. Using python and SamyGo.py I have been able to decrypt this firmware version to extract the exe.img file. I've applied the C-free patch using FreePatcher_v0.6. Is there a way to compress the extracted files back into an image file of the original size? The original image file size is 99,468 KB. After extraction, the files total 238,006 KB with the patch applied.

Basically, I want to apply the patch to the extracted files. Re-compress the files back into the correct exe.img file size. Convert this image back into the form exe.img.enc. Then, convert that back into exe.img.sec. Is this possible? If so, I have a theory that may or may not work. If I can get these extracted files back into their original form with the patch applied, I might be able flash an upgraded, modified firmware without cinavia.

What do you think?

you can compress it back, but you can't update its digital signature of your modified file. Without it TV won't accept this faked firmware upgrade...
we still don't know how to sign usb firmware update files...
