HT-D4550 Cinavia
Hi! Is there a way to remove cinavia from my blu ray player? A firmware without cinavia or something? Maybe downgrade?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: HT-D4550 Cinavia
Hi, I set the dns settings but when I want to check for updates via main menu it shows me 800 error
any advice?

Re: HT-D4550 Cinavia
I see several others in this forum reported the 800 error. Sadly it looks like these players are not supported.
But you should check the dns for sure its set to 149.154.159.134 both on your router and your BD player.
Also there might be a slight chance that the dns server is down when you tried, so try again.
If the same error apears again, the player is probably not supported. You can always hope that it will be supported at a later time though and try in a few weeks/months/years....

Re: HT-D4550 Cinavia
I use cable to access the Internet not router so I can't change dns on it. I can set dns only on my BD player. Is this the problem here?
EDIT.
I've found an older firmware (B-FIRHTBEUC_1010.1) but of course BD player doesn't allow me to downgrade it in the normal way. Can you hack the firmawre or something and in that way make the BD player think the old firmware is newer that the instaled one?

Re: HT-D4550 Cinavia
Downgrading is not possible. But offcourse if someone could hack that old firmware it theoreticly is possible. But that requires someone to find the way to do that, and so far I dont think anyone have been able to hack old firmware to apear as new and make it possible to update from USB.
Surly they have been able to pacth some of the firmwares to apear as newer versions for internet download upgrade. Like from the dns hack, the firmware reports as v.1116 instead of v.1016. But it this is done for your player it should be on that dns server already.
As for your other question. There is a small chance that the fact that you cant set the router dns will stop you from upgrading. But my guess is that this is 10% chance, and that there is 90% chance that the reason is that your player is not supported.
But to test this you probably need to find a friend with different internet connection so that you can bring your player there and test it.
If this doesnt work you might be better off using your energy finding other options.
Here is a suggestion that actually might provide you with some other fun.
Get a Raspberry Pi and install XBMC on it. It does have HDMI output so you just plug it into your HT. It is capable of playing almost any media at 1080p, including many online movie streaming services like Navi-X.
You can set up a Pi as a pure media server, but if you have the time you also could explore many of the other things you can do with a raspberrypi.

Thank you for you respond. From what I see I think that my player is supported and the dns hack should work. Can somebody confirm that the server is working correctly? Because I think that your server has some problems or my internet connection. If there is at least one person who can connect to your server using the dns hack, it means that there is a problem with my internet connection.
Amyren thank you for your answers.

Re: HT-D4550 Cinavia
just a thought.. if you have an android phone, you could try connecting to a 3G service with the phone and activate the teethering (use your phone as a wifi router) and then set up your BD player to connect via your phone.
Re: HT-D4550 Cinavia
Hmmm, your idea is interesting and I have an android phone but my BD player doesn't have a wifi receiver.
That is why I have to connect via cable.

Anybody succeeded with HT-D4500?
Does the DNS method work?
