Satellite TV Guide

Post by Cuba64 »

Does anyone else use the satellite tuner?

How do you get the guide to work?

If you use Freeview DVB-T you get the guide, I guess it downloads it somehow.

If you use Freesat DVB-S you get the guide.

If you use Cable DVB-C, Do you get a guide? I don't have Cable so I don't know.

I use the Satellite tuner though I only get now and next and only after I have tuned a channel on the transponder. I only use certain Sky UK (28.2E) channels and some on other satellites. When tuning 23.5 and 19.2E for Canal Digitaal, Sky Duchland and Digital+ among others. I noticed that the Dutch channels had full TV guide. I thought this may be because I had tuned to the channel that broadcasts the TV guide.

Does anyone know why this is?

I don't use the guide but do like the CH LIST button, it seems to work well and can be used as a guide as the pressing the 'C Yellow' button will bring up program guide for that channel.

Pictures to follow.

OK, so I've done a few tests and assume that the Dutch Channels carry full Guide that's compatible with Samsung TV Guide.

I have tuned the transponder that carries Sky UK's program info... 11778 V, left it on the channels for a few minutes... still no guide.

Sky only gets now and next for channels on a transponder when you tune a channel on that transponder. Maybe an App could be made?

The Dutch channels seemed to have all program info as soon as I looked at them.

I get all channel info, even on the crappy satellites out there?

O and how are you getting sky HD channels through your tv? Do you have a cam card installed?

Yes, Diablo Cam WiFi works well.

I had Matrix Cam Air before. Really bad on Samy TV's. I even modified it with Power supply and aerial. Rubbish. Diablo Cam Wifi is maybe 90% as good as Sat Receivers that do the same job. My dream was 1 remote instead of the 4 or 5 other people have. I'm there :)

You cant get all the channel info, it's broadcast a different way on Sky UK. I only get now and next and only after tuning a channel. while the positioner is moving.... I get no data!

If you have a channel list please post it in the other thread.

A LAN CAM would be an improvement if you had a bad wireless signal. I don't have that problem. Probably quicker to start up which would be a plus as timer recordings when the TV is off are a problem. For me it would mean running yet another Cat5e cable through the walls :( not to mention the price... I haven't checked but my CAM cost ?100+

I know someone who used a 3G CAM with mobile internet to connect to his cards at home while touring in his camper van and said it worked flawlessly... We digress from the topic here...

Channel info is only Now and next for most major packages despite what Sammy has posted above... I would like to see evidence of full channel info on Sky UK or Italia... A picture Sammy?

I don't have sky on the my Samsung tv, but I get all the channel guide info from other satellites, eg hotbird, astra, etc. Is it just sky that you are having problems with?

On my sky box abroad I use (12207) Polarisation (V) Symbol Rate (27.5) FEC 2/3 for the default transponder frequency.
