Synology DS Video

Synology NAS is lauching an app for Samsung Tv?s, jus for 2013 models.

Is there any way we use it in older models? I tried to install it on my PL50C7000, just got an static image, nothing else.

I can stream video from my Synology NAS without this app, even though I have a Samsung C650 and a Synology 411j NAS. What is the purpose?
