Noob question about BD Players.

Post by jk200sx »

So, I've started reading a bit in this sub forum, but can't really make heads or tails what people are trying to achieve here.

What I do understand, is that the samygo software for TV's allows you to display multi region apps at the same time, but what about the BD Players? ie what I really want to know, is there some list as to what can be achieved by dabbling with a BD Player?
eg "BD Firmware Downgrade (SamyGO Proof of Concept) " - what is the end effect?

Thanks in advance.

Most seem to downgrade BD players to remove the Cinavia protection.

Ok, thanks for that reply. But is there any way to get apps from multiple regions to appear at the same time?

There is a way but it involves manually editing samygo code to copy your apps to correct folder. This worked for my bd-f6500.

Hi... and great forum guys. I have a similar question and cant find the answer having searched.

I have a Canadian bought BD-H6500 and would like to get UK apps such as iplayer and 4od onto the smarthub platform.

Is this possible and if so how? I have successfully rooted androids jailbroken iphones and flashed custom roms etc, but I havnt a clue where to start with this thing.

I have Unlocater DNS redirect set up at the router level and all other devices Apple tv, smart tvs, laptops etc think they are in the UK... but I cant seem to get the Smart hub in the BD player to "see" Uk apps in the store, thinking this os based on model variant. Is there a way to hack this to that the store presents the UK apps to me...

Any help much appreciated... i will of course report back findings and dont mind if i brick it as best buy is across the street and I only bought it today, theyll take it back.

Have you tried this? > https://support.unlocator.com/customer/ ... g-smart-tv

I believe you need to press the buttons on home screen (not Smart Hub) on blu-ray players.
Before you press the buttons, wait some time so the player can connect to internet.
This worked for me on my F6500. If it also works on H6500, I'm considering buying it.
