External HD, 2 partition

Post by coyotee »

Hello! I have Samsung LEC650, rooted, with 1 external 2GB HD, divided on half. 1 partition formated to XFS for recording, the other used to be ext3, I think. The thing is that this second partition is not recognized by the tv. I can select it in media player, but then when I try to go on movie icon, to enter the folder, I get message like there is no movie files on it, and I get kicked out... I had that thing working before, but then I created this partiotion with asus wl router for storage. Now i don`t have this router no more. Also under DTV/usb/ there is no mount for this drive. In log there is something wrong with the mount process... If I hook HD to UBUNTO, there I can see both partitions. Can someone help me, Is there any step by step how to mount the drive or format it right? I used Gpart and also Disks under Ubunto to create partitions. Should I use fdisk via terminal direct on TV?

Thanks, Bojan

i think there is no need to create the partitions again.
do you still have the secons part formatted as ext3?
you could try fat instead, and mounting it manually via ssh
//UE40C6500 @ T-VALDEUC 3011 // rooted manual HotelMode style // PVR to NFS via 18MB on-the-fly sparse XFS // >> decommissioned due to tuner death
//UE46F8090 @ T-FXPDEUC 1136 // rooted by new Widget // root starting with empty usb drive
FYI: you can close your ssh session with SamyGO with

Code: Select all

~.
If you can't fix it using dvct tape, you are not using enough dvct tape.

Re: External HD, 2 partition

it's always good to have a look at the help that (almost) every command brings with:

Code: Select all

mount --help
but in general the mount command is

Code: Select all

mount /dev/sda2 /dtv/usb/sda2
here /dev/sda2 is the partition you want to mount (second primary partition on first serial drive)
and /dtv/usb/sda2 is the path to your mountpoint wich has to be an empty folder, but can be (almost) anywhere you want, for testing its good to place it in a tmpfs location like /tmp or /dtv
if you want to know how to create folders, ask the search engine of you choice (;
