Great, thanks for the info.
When reading about Vorbis track, I realized, there will be probably problem if unsupported audio track (other then DTS) will be as the first track.. could you also check this setup?

For mkv files with 1st track in unsuported format (eg. Vorbis+AC3+AC3, FLAC+AC3) there is a message "Audio Codec Not supported" and switching is not working, no visible/audible effects while pressing red button.

For files with AC3 or DTS tracks combined with other supported formats (PCM 2.0, MP3, MP2, AAC 2.0 / AAC 5.1) I'm observing somehow more complex behaviors:
1) If AC3 or DTS track is the 1st, there is silence / no sound while switching through tracks in "other" formats, but every subsequent AC3 2.0 or AC3 5.1 tracks seem to be recognized and played properly.
2) For the files with multiple "other" audio tracks in identicall formats (MP3+MP3, PCM+PCM, AAC+AAC) switching mostly works (sometimes i got silence after switching to particular n-th track, but it works eventually after a couple of retries / additional keypresses).
3) If the AC3 track is not the first (eg. PCM+AC3, AAC+AC3, MP3+MP3+AC3), after switching to the following AC3 track I'm getting various "sound effects" instead of AC3 audio from the SPDIF output. Similar behaviour for not-identical "other" format combinations (PCM+MP3, MP3+AAC), plus an occasionall message "Audio Data Not Supported" while switching.

I guess audio decoder and/or audio output mode is only initialized once, for the 1st track. That's probably why uncle Samsung was a little shy about enabling this feature in original firmware :). But IMO it's not that big a problem, as such non-typical audio format combinations (other than multiple DTS/AC3) are quite uncommon for real-world mkv files.

Thanks for great analysis. I was afraid of this behaviour. I also think it is about the first initialization - there are functions called only once and not during changing audio track. Maybe we could try to call them before switching i.e. from AC3 to PCM. Anyway I agree that mostly we will need to switch only from DTS to another (most probably) AC3 track..

Doodlecz, sbav1 I'm following your work and it's amazing! I'm very interested in knowing if the red button could be used in order to switch between audio tracks during TV broadcasts as well. I know it can be done by surfing the menu but it means surfing a lot. The red button would be such a great shortcut for this purpose!
Thank you in advance!!

I think this is already possible with latest PVR soft.. if yes, it will be no problem.

Regarding the unsupported audio tracks, I tried to reinit audio when changing the audio track, but maybe I did not do it correctly or as sbav1 mentioned, it's not finished. Anyway I think, it would be OK, if would remember the last track we switched to and when replaying the same movie, to start playing directly the last track. It should resolve the reinitialization issue. During tests I was able to initialize audio for PCM, movie started with first AC3 track (-> silence), and after the switching to PCM track, the sound was played correctly. So IMO this workaround will be possible.

The TV used is a LE32B650T2P
What version of FW do you use? Mine is 2005.0.

My Version is:
T-CHLCIPDEUC 2006.0 (SWU_T-CHLCIPDEUC_002006_I02_ES000DS000_091112)
This will be the reason. After publishing next version I'll fix it for other FWs. Sorry about that.

Finally I was able to prepare v0.2 of the AudioSwitch application:

Changelog:
- all not supported audio streams are automatically ignored / skipped
- application remembers the last audio stream played and when the same movie (movie with the same filename as the previous one) is played again, the last audio stream is played by default. This function is needed in case, there are several "incompatible" streams in the movie (i.e. AC3 + PCM).
In this example (AC3 + PCM), playing the PCM track is possible: start playing movie (starts with AC3 audio), switch to another track (silence or strange noise appears because of the different codec), stop movie, start playing movie again (should start correctly with PCM audio now).
Such "strange" process is needed because of problems during initialization, Samsung does not support switching to another codec type during movie playback..
- all logs removed (although might be recompiled easily to enable logging)
- added application picture (thanks to Moras86)
