Can you please explain how the patch for the Samsung HT-E5550 is applied and how it works? Is it a downloadable file loaded into the blu-ray player via USB or is it downloaded via DNS changes?

Also, what's the cost for the patch?

It's applied like most patches available here: via commandline or script after rooting your device.
