Re: [App] Rooting E/F on latest firmwares
I have a UE40F6500, like a fool I updated the firmware to 2107. Apps version 5.3161
I followed instructions and various tricks, plugging/unplugging, various USB media, all 3 USB ports on the set... - no luck: SamyGO just does not appear under SmartHub.
Ready to give up.

Re: [App] Rooting E/F on latest firmwares
Hi,
I've successfully used my rooted F6500 and recorded to NAS drive (samba server).
Everything was o.k. until last week: suddenly the tv is starting new every let's say 3 minutes (with the samygo root-stick in).
After removing the stick, everythings was o.k..
So I made the 'rooting f-series' procedure from the beginning by unpacking the presented folders and files onto a fat32-formatted stick (same and another as before after testing their file system) in two different usb-slots in the tv: nothing helps. Powercycling the tv at the 220V plug and resetting the smart hub: no rooting. Sometimes in a short period after tv-booting I have ftp-access, until the next 'self-new-start' of the tv.
At last I have booted the tv without the stick and then plugged in while smart hub was on: the widget appeared, I could start it and it ran successfully. So I rebooted, but the same again.
I've used the same files for the rooting stick like the first time in february 2015!
In the last time some notices popped up on the tv, fpr ex. that the service ??? ends on ....???.
I've checked the 'OTN-Support' = Off in service menu: that was o.k., and still the same firmware-number as before is seen on the tv.
1. question: Could something has got onto the tv over the net, so that it is affected meanwhile?
2. question: If I use the stick with the first (or older) versions of samygo-files, could it make problems? But from february '15 on it worked, but in the meantime I have loaded some things onto the system like 'pvr-to-ts' and a newer version of samygo-files.
3. question: Do these loadings (with yout documented procedures) alter the system files on the tv-board (in the system- / board-emmory) at all, or only on the stick (over mountings), so that at every boot procedure the stick files are mounted as the tv-linux-system instead the original system?
What other idea do you have for me get back the previously excellent root situation (with recording to NAS and other)?
About your suggestions I would be very happy (or is another person better to ask?).

[App] Rooting E/F on latest firmwares
I'm experiencing similar issues.
Samy worked flawless since months but recently didn't start anymore. No firmware update occurred since then.
I've started from scratch with a factory reset on the TV and nothing changed: I don't have the TV reboot but SamyGo works just right after executing the script. At the next reboot it doesn't start.
I've checked the log and nothing is written, it seems like rcSGO never get executed.
By the way I also have an F6500, firmware 2105.

Re: [App] Rooting E/F on latest firmwares
Hi,
I am using an UE39F5370SS with firmware version 2107.
I have tried for few hour to root it without succeeding. I used the exact instructions that were given on the first page and I also replaced SamyGO-F-SM-MST-Fix/data/data.zip with the new one but no luck. In the service menu, OTN-Support' = Off.
The widget shows without any issues when I connect the USB drive. I run it and restrt, wait even more than 5 minutes but nothing happens. The TV is not reachable and there is no option to auto start SamyGO. I only have the Social thing as usual.
The only 2 fields that have a NO dafter the installation are the following:
Existing '/dtv/SamyGO_OK' ? [NO] - this one was also YES during the first tries but then at one point, it turned in NO ...maybe after I stopped factory resetting.
Existing '/mnt/rcSGO' ? [NO]
Also, there is no sam.log after replacing the run.sh.
I would really appreciate an answer. Thank you.

Re: [App] Rooting E/F on latest firmwares
If you had /dtv/SamyGO_OK' -> YES it measn rooting worked and the problem was ONLY with your USB or you used WiFi
You should get back to that situation
And check telnet on port 5023

I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!

Re: [App] Rooting E/F on latest firmwares
Thank you. I tried with another USB drive. Now I can reach the TV using, for example, FileZilla but the SammyGO option is still missing from the Auto Ticker in Apps Settings. However, I got really confused when trying to find out how I can install new widgets.
A really easy way is using SmartHub Widget Manager BUT for this to work I need to apply the SamyGO AnalFix. This .so patches that installation security check when trying to install user widgets that use functions/features user widgets are not allowed to use.

The thing is I really DO NOT understand the instructions.....the funny thing is that I work at a Data Center and I'm not a complete noob. I do not understand what should I do with the files and where to insert those codes. the instructions are not provided maybe because this is really obvious to everyone else....but me to me apparently.
Can someone help? Thank you.
