I do NOT support "latest fw" at ALL. If you have one you should block updates on router and wait for it to STOP being "latest":)
If you want me to help you please paste FULL log(s) to "spoiler"/"code" bbcodes or provide link(s) to pasted file(s) on https://pastebin.com Otherwise "NO HELP"!!!
If you want root DISABLE internet access to your device!!!!

Re: !!!! Block OTN Update with Rooter !!!!

Post by alaska12 »

Hi,

I have just blocked the urls in the router.

msecnd.net
samsungotn.net
http://www.samsungotn.net
test.samsungotn.net

From my computer, there is no way to reach the mentioned sites. But, from my TV,
whenever, i press software, the update process is still going on. Please let me know what I should to do to block the updates over the router, as well.
The statement is
"There are no new updates for you at the moment"
Is there any other url to be blocked ?

I have already disabled OTN Support from the service menu.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

What are you doing, is your matter, but I think Test 1) or Test 2) is better
@sectroyer you can Test 1 add this to wiki?
Are all of you from different parts of the world where your English isn't too well? I feel like almost every member has bad communication.

Anyways, would you all like for me to make a simple bash script that blocks these URL's in the TV's hosts file?

Yes, Linux absolutely uses a hosts-like file and you can absolutely write lines inside it to block all these Samsung addresses.

It's a heck of a lot easier to modify a file that will be in the exact same location on ANY tv running ANY firmware, than it is to help users navigate their routers and block that way. There's literally 1000's of routers and probably 100's of different interfaces.

Yes but no :)
Actually you can modify TV's hosts file, but it will be restored to original state after reboot. Since you can (re-)change it only once you get root access and that it's already too late to prevent updates, it's just pointless.
I do NOT receive any PM. Please use forum.

Wait, could you explain to me how the TV changes the file when I shut down?

How was this root achieved? It is more like a tethered jailbreak for iPhones where you have to jailbreak every reboot?

What happens when I turn off my TV? What happens when I turn it on?

What was your process of downgrading?

Why did you downgrade?

Can I install your firmware on my TN-14blah TV?

Used new root methode to get root.

used libFWdowngrade to downgrade to 2130.0 from usb.

Factory reset

Disabled OTN on boot (blocked dns also in router)

Used skype root methode... 4 reboots later running perfectly stable :)
