Does it support playing movie natively or do you changed the modal number to achieve movie playback functionality. I really don't know if it can at default settings.
Anyway do you try to play movie from USB device or from DLNA like source?

You can't change container by renaming the file. Those files are different on BINARY level. It's really dump move for me (as a writer of first MKV fix utility and best AVI repair tool)
. But it's normal if you don't understand from movies/codecs. Sorry.
Please rename your movie to MKV than "Convert" it to AVI format with using programs like "avidemux". Use "copy" as video and audio codec. You will don't loose any quality with this conversion since your codecs are same... Resulting file will be normal AVI and will support ff/rev from DLNA.
OR
Rename file to MKV again, Use SamyGO Extensions tool to mount your SMB / NFS share than play the file. I think it's better than samsungs DLNA implementation.
Regards.

You needed to know that, no one "lock" the ff & rw. your TV just cannot handle it from DLNA.
I don't know why avidemux doesn't work on that mkv. Also MKV is a really wide format.
I think TV don't support every feature of it. Perhaps you can try to convert your file to AVI format.. It's most compatible.
I think you can find that programs manuals from wiki pages.(look at main page for link)
Thanks.
