I haven't used it myself, but it looks like it works in background (so blank screen for 2-3 secs!) and creates thumbnails in TV memory just like the TV itself, for use next time you use Media Play. You should only need to run it once, until you add new content.

The DTS is also packaged as a Game to be run from the Content Gallery. I expect it will need to run from the TV, not USB, so will need to be copied using the TV Content Manager.
